Here is the part of Trump’s thinking that terrifies the foreign-policy establishment.
He doesn’t believe America must fix the world.
He believes America must defend itself decisively.
That difference eliminates the endless middle phase that swallowed entire administrations.
Hanson captures it bluntly:
“There is no nation-building. Trump sees the United States as responsible only for lighting the fuse of revolution, then giving the oppressed the chance of something better if they do not miss their chance.”
This idea sounds radical only because Washington abandoned it decades ago.
