Next Steps for Joe Biden on Building Back Better, Sen. Lisa Murkowski faces a Trump Challenger in Alaska while Chris Sununu Declines A Senate Bid in New Hampshire, Also A Win for Trump in the January 6th Investigation, and The Glasgow Climate Summit Powers Down

    33:31

President Biden has promised to sign his long-awaited infrastructure legislation into law on Monday. Some think this is the reboot the administration needs, but what else will it take to turn things around for the White House? Also, the COP26 climate summit is scheduled to close today. China and the US signed an agreement on coal, but progressives are already complaining that not enough was accomplished. And the House Investigation into the January 6th attack on the US Capitol has run into an entirely predictable roadblock, which is that the former president is invoking executive privilege. The courts are now involved, and things are slowing down. Tom Bevan, co-founder and president of RealClearPolitics, and Carl Cannon, Washington Bureau Chief join Andrew Walworth on today’s RealClearPolitics Takeaway podcast.

Lessons From Tuesday's Elections: What Do The Parties Take Away From The Results?

    27:30

Tuesday was a heartbreaker for Democrats. Republican Glen Youngkin is the new governor of Virginia, and Republican Jack Ciattarelli came very close to unseating Democratic Governor Phil Murphy in New Jersey. Those are states that just a year ago, Joe Biden won by ten and 17 points respectively. Throughout America, Tuesday’s elections big and small seemed to point to a rejection of the president and at least some of his policies, and to troubles ahead for Democrats in next year’s mid-terms. Democrats, of course, can make a course correction, although what direction they should go in is a matter of debate within the party. Meanwhile, Republicans will still have to deal with the wild card that is Donald Trump and again, there’s disagreement over how much Tuesday tells us about running with, for, or against the former president. Tom Bevan, co-founder and president of RealClearPolitics, Carl Cannon, Washington Bureau Chief, and Phil Wegmann, White House Correspondent join Andrew Walworth on today’s RealClearPolitics Takeaway podcast.
