On this week’s episode of Gone Running, Ben Sheppard speaks to Marcus Brown, co-founder of the 1% running club.

Marcus, who ran his first marathon in 4.55, has become an 8 x sub-three runner over 26.2 and has earned himself the mythical six-star medal.

Having for many years been on good for age start lines feeling as though there aren’t many people from similar backgrounds doing the same thing, he co-founded the 1% running club as a way to promote diversity and not only get people into the sport but competing at a performance level for their ability.

In this conversation Ben and Marcus delve into those lessons running teaches you, not only on the road but in life, how running a 100-mile week lead to a 5K PB and also touch on some of the stats for the inclusion rates at the London marathon, something which he hopes to be a leading force in changing in the future.
