The IEEE Boston Section made the pivot to online, as did the entire world, when the pandemic hit. However, even after coming out of COVID in 2023, this group kept several of their key conferences as completely virtual – HPEC being one of them. Why did they decide to keep this format, will it stay this way, and how can an event that was in-person from 1997-2019 survive (and thrive) as an online-only experience?
