Raised between New York and Ibiza by a saxophonist mom, she saw Avicii at Ushuaïa at 11 and was spotted online by Paris Hilton as a kid DJ. That led to launching teen glow parties at Amnesia, and later to an hour-long set in Martin Garrix's green room. At 13, she released her first single, "Superstar," a vault song co-written by Meghan Trainor. In this POP 101 interview, the New York singer, songwriter, and DJ takes us inside “Dance Floor Emergency” and her hunt for a real ambulance for the video. She also talks about writing "Iconic" in twenty minutes at a Swiss songwriting camp and channeling the Pussycat Dolls on "Shut Up." Then comes "Sleepless Nights," which traveled from her piano to a Nashville string session, and finally to a frozen Canadian lake in sub-zero temperatures for a figure skating music video. Plus "Middle Man," and "Feel the Love" with Mom back on saxophone. And what's next: a full disco pivot inspired by Studio 54 and a trip to Sweden to chase the sound of Alcazar and Nile Rodgers. Mis-Teeq "Lickin' on Both Sides" turns 25, and Chris and Chantel give the debut a full track-by-track honest review, from the singles you know by heart to the deep cuts. This is the album that fused R&B and UK garage into pop and proved a British girl group could sound like no one else. We go song by song through the standard album, rating production, vocals, visuals, and performances, and finishing with a Cut or Keep. Along the way we untangle why nearly every single exists in three different versions, and dig into the stories behind them: "One Night Stand" as Stargate's first big break years before Rihanna and Beyoncé, the Sunship garage smash "All I Want," the So Solid Crew link on "They'll Never Know," and "Why?", the only Mis-Teeq song featuring original fourth member Zena McNally, who returned to the stage for the group's reunion. Speaking of which, we get into the 25th anniversary Wembley show and the drama that followed once the reunion fell apart. Alesha Dixon, Sabrina Washington, and Su-Elise Nash made a real UK garage classic. Does it still hold up 25 years on? Two lifelong superfans take her from co-writing the Spice Girls catalogue, through the highs and hard times of going solo, to the joy and reinvention of the “Sweat” era. Melanie C opens up about learning to write songs inside the Spice Girls, finding her identity outside Sporty Spice on “Northern Star”, revisiting “Forever”, going fully independent after leaving Virgin for “Beautiful Intentions”, falling in love with dance music and DJing, and why “Sweat” feels like the sweet spot of her whole career. Plus, we hand her our cheeky business-card question (is "Wannabe" one of the Spice Girls' worst songs?) and she defends it herself before naming the Spice and solo deep cuts fans have slept on. And of course, we ask the big one: what will it take to finally get the unreleased track “W.O.M.A.N” released? &TEAM are back with their second Korean EP "Mark on Me," and we're breaking down all six tracks. On this track-by-track unfiltered review, Chris and Chan give an honest review of the whole werewolf-in-love concept record, going track by track from the Benson Boone co-written title song to the b-sides fans are calling the real highlights. We get into whether "Mark on Me" earns its title-track spot, the vocal performances that might be the group's best yet, and the "too short" problem hanging over the whole EP. We break down "Good Boy" (yes, all five members of CORTIS have writing credits), the retro '90s R&B of "Love Jang," the groove of "Accelerate," the ballad "Empty," and the pop-punk closer "Night to howl!" Then it's Cut or Keep on the full EP. Chris and Chantel finally dig into the 2007 album “Tangled Up” - the imperial-phase peak of Girls Aloud and Xenomania. From the electropop of "Call the Shots" and the Nazareth-sampling "Sexy! No No No..." to the smooth-jazz swerve of "Can't Speak French," the reggae oddity "Control of the Knife," and the drum and bass experiment "What You Crying For," this is the record where Britain's biggest girl group finally got the recognition they deserved. We break down the production, the lore, the singles, and the deep cuts, plus the genre-hopping that makes “Tangled Up” their most acclaimed album. SF9 are back with "Without Wings," the Afrobeats-rooted title track from their 10th anniversary album TENACITY, and we're giving it an honest review across the song, the music video, and the performance. We break down whether a breezy summer groove was the right call for a decade-milestone comeback, how the "soar without wings" concept plays against the laid-back sound, the wing-inspired choreography, and the Afrobeats-in-K-pop question, then hand down our Keep or Cut verdict on the title track plus a quick radar on the rest of TENACITY. SF9 (Youngbin, Inseong, Jaeyoon, Dawon, Hwiyoung, and Chani) are promoting this comeback as a six-member lineup, with Zuho and Yoo Taeyang currently completing their mandatory military service. The group debuted in 2016 under FNC Entertainment and is marking ten years with anniversary concerts at KBS Arena in Seoul. Fan-first, editorially honest, no gatekeeping. FLO's sophomore album “Therapy at the Club” might be the most slept-on girl group record of the year, and on this episode we're breaking down every single track. This is our full, honest review of “Therapy at the Club”, going song by song from "Side Effects" to "Haterbooth" to figure out if FLO just delivered a sophomore album that beats their Grammy-nominated debut “Access All Areas”. We get into the hidden story running through the whole record (this "night out" album is secretly a breakup detox, and the real love story is the friendship), the Juicy J verse everyone's arguing about on "Pose," the "Leak It" and "Remedied" video universe, and the big question: are FLO the best girl group working right now, and why aren't they bigger? KATSEYE dropped “WILD”, their third EP, and we went track by track for an honest review... and this might be the most critical we have ever been about them. We are rooting for KATSEYE….Biggest group in pop right now, a sold-out world tour, an Ed Sheeran co-write, a lost Charli XCX song reborn, and yet the actual music keeps coming up beneath what these women deserve. Chris, Chantel and guest host Jasmine break down every track from the meme-hyperpop of "Pinky Up" to the deeply divisive "Hootie Frutti," the Y2K bounce of "That Way," and Lara's self-produced bonus "Unloveu." The question we keep circling: with a machine this expensive behind them, why does so much of “WILD” sound so disposable? Sophia and Manon are both on hiatus…where do KATSEYE go from here? Dannii Minogue's "Neon Nights" turns 20, and we're finally sitting down with it start to finish. This is our first time listening to the 2003 album in full, and we go track by track through every song for an honest review of what holds up, what got slept on, and whether this really is the lost pop classic its fans have been calling it for two decades. From the club hits "Put the Needle on It," "I Begin to Wonder" and "Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling" to deep cuts like "Mystified," "Push" and "A Piece of Time," we break down the production, the songwriting, the samples, and the stories behind the record Dannii Minogue made when everyone thought her music career was over. We cover the Stockholm and Paris sessions, the Madonna "Into the Groove" sample she cleared for the "Don't Wanna Lose This Groove" mashup, the early credit from a now-massive hitmaker hiding on the tracklist, and why London Records handed her a six-album deal and only ever released one. Fans of Kylie Minogue, Madonna and early 2000s dance-pop will find a lot to love here. Then we give every track our Cut or Keep verdict. Was "Neon Nights" the pop album we all missed in 2003? The Pussycat Dolls debut album "PCD" gets the full track by track treatment on CCTV: The Nonstop Pop Show, and the timing could not be bigger. This is the record that gave us "Don't Cha," "Buttons," "Stickwitu," and "Beep," and turned a burlesque troupe into a global chart machine. We break down the production, the Nicole vs. the rest of the group tension baked into the album, the ballad detours, and the deep cuts nobody talks about anymore.
