Jacob's favoritism towards his son Joseph sparks jealousy and hatred among his brothers. Joseph's dreams of ruling over his brothers only intensify their animosity. Sold into slavery by his own brothers, Joseph eventually rises to a position of power in Egypt through his God-given ability to interpret dreams. As a severe famine strikes the land, Joseph's brothers unknowingly come to him for food, not realizing that he is their brother. Joseph eventually reveals his identity to them, forgives them, and orchestrates the migration of their entire family to Egypt to last out the famine.

Readings: Genesis 37:2-30, Genesis 41:25-40, Genesis 44:18-33. Genesis 45:1-11
