In today’s episode, I discuss a study by researchers from Texas and Arizona, published in Obesity in April 2022. The study investigates lymphatic function and anatomy in the early stages of lipedema, prior to the onset of lipo-lymphedema. Using near-infrared fluorescence lymphatic imaging with indocyanine green (ICG), the researchers explore whether lymphatic defects seen in early lymphedema also occur in early-stage lipedema.

In this episode, I discuss a fascinating study from Australia, published in Pain Medicine in February 2022. The study examines the effects of a well-formulated ketogenic diet (WFKD) compared to a whole-food diet (WFD) on chronic pain. We’ll explore its findings on pain relief, metabolic biomarkers, inflammation, and quality of life for patients with chronic pain.

In this episode, I’ll dive into a study conducted by surgeons from a reconstructive and aesthetic surgery center in Germany. The research, published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine in May 2022, titled "Characteristics and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures in Lipedema Patients—Establishing a Baseline for Treatment Evaluation," explores the unique characteristics of lipedema and provides a foundational baseline to assess the impact of surgical treatments.

In today's episode, I'll be discussing a fascinating study forwarded by one of our listeners. The research, conducted by a group from Egypt and published in the Bulletin of Faculty of Pharmacy at Cairo University in July 2013, is titled Vacuum-Cavitation Therapy Versus Liposuction on Lipoedema in Females. The study aims to compare the effectiveness of vacuum-cavitation therapy and liposuction in treating lipedema. Interestingly, the authors also reported a case of a male patient where cavitation therapy proved ineffective.
