Episode 197: Patients Should Shoot Their Shot

WI are back!  A nice summer episode, sipping our new favorite Semillon from Aadland-Moody vineyards and dispensing nothing but the finest of dental advice.   Our first situation: is dentistry a right?  Do people deserve teeth and required care? Do monkies fly out of my butt? Why do people think dentistry only costs US our time? Why does CURRENT CE make you better?   Second issue: How do you handle an assistant that is AWESOME one day, but then sucks on all the rest?  Do you “work” with them, or just cut bait?   Finally: are dentists influencers?  What or who do they influence?  Where do I sign up for that sweet sweet influencer gravy?   Products that I can’t live without: CBCT: I use the Vatech Green full FOV iTero: my favorite IO scanner Wand STA: I cannot numb without it Isolite: replaces at least ONE employee EMS Airflow: any preventive visit without this is simply inferior Enova Headlight: I am terrible if I can’t SEE Smileline brushes: colorizing OnX Tough 2 arches Sprintray 55S printer: full arch dentistry NEEDS quality prototypes Designs for Vision 6.0 loupes: I am a shit dentist without these  

So... its been 32 years.  in a ROW   What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

Ever dismissed an entire family for the behavior of a single member?  Dismiss the ONE?  Or is it grounds to dismiss EVERYONE?  Can you hate TOO many people? WI are on "location"!   "Live" from Palm Desert, we catch up.  Christmas is over, we catch up.  We tackle some "reddit" input and some listener mail.   Are you open between Christmas and New Years?  Why or why not?   As a listener, are we considered friends?   So your hands shake when treating patients?

Ok.  Slightly more sober now.   We delve into Facebook groups and share advice.  Issue 1: New owner buys practice and will be FFS (fee for service).  Must you credential them?   Issue 2: PPO third party negotiator can't get all relevant info?  What to do?   Dental influencers.  Do you strain muscles patting yourself on the back?  Is your pity party well attended?   Peace.

We are back for more, giving Yapi love like we do...  Seriously, don't be dumb.   We traveled, but not together.  Ever done a solo trip?   Advice today was for 3 anonymous posts.  They really get around.  First: How do you handle a parent that you have never met that brings in long time pediatric patients and makes a scene?   If you only work 2 days per week but a new patient calls after hours, who makes the call?  Using a personal cell phone?   Adulting sucks.  If a parent tells their kid that they now pay their dental bill, but the kid won't pay, who is responsible?
