Today I am joined by the Deputy Director of Social Media at BuzzFeed and expert on all things celebrity gossip, Emma Tyler. Emma and I chat about our time at Northwestern University together, including being part of the same sorority, debating whether or not sororities have aged well, Alabama rush TikTok compared to our rush experience, the types of people the school attracts, and so much more. Later, during the Quarter Life Qualms segment, Emma opens up about how she struggled with being taken seriously during her time at Medill Journalism School as a pop culture aficionado, but details how she pushed through and ended up with opportunities to work at places like Tigerbeat, People Magazine, and eventually Buzzfeed. We also get deep into celebrity gossip and in particular, the John Mulaney Love triangle and the Erika Jayne/Tom Girardi legal scandal (which I discuss listener opinions on in the episode intro with the results to my IG story poll). We end the episode with a game of 7 Tea Questions, and man oh man does Emma spill some celebrity tea.

We also cover topics like how ridiculous our former “timelines” we gave ourselves were; her dating woes & how it inspired her book “But Like Maybe Don’t”; the dangers of drinking in NYC as a woman (TW: drugging, roofies); whether or not ladies our ages should freeze their eggs if they’re not sure they want kids; and so much more. A bit further into the episode (we are both ADHD), we circle back and get more into the specifics of his starting OHC as well as into some deeper topics and how they pertain to his love of comedy. We discuss everything from the craziness of the TikTok algorithm, to her budding film writing career, to why dating in your 20s is like getting a vaccine-- you're more protected from the red flags, just never entirely. F*ck Up The Industry ft. Leah Kate
50:26Today I am joined by singer songwriter Leah Kate. Leah and I discuss how after moving back to her native LA and getting creative during the pandemic, she was able to hustle and get her song "F*ck Up The Friendship" to be used by some of the top TikTok creators in the game. She now boasts of 70 million plus streams and has a full EP out called "What Just Happened." The title of the episode (f*ck up the industry) refers to both her hit song and to how Leah trusted her gut and chose to be an independent artist and to not sign with a label. And damn, did it pay off. We also talk about some of the relationships and stories that inspired her hit songs, loving the word f*ck, the physical strain of performing and touring, comparison being the thief of joy, and so much more. Follow Leah on IG @leah, on Twitter @leahkatemusic, and stream her music wherever you listen. Almost 30 x What The F*ck's Up Podcast
1:20:21Today I am joined by the ladies who need no introduction-- Krista and Lindsey of the Almost 30 podcast. Almost 30 was one of the first podcasts I turned to when researching podcasts and the theme of navigating your 20s, so to have them on as guests is truly an honor. Together, we explore many themes, including but not limited to their journey with starting Almost 30; female friendships and what it's like running a business with your best friend; why the late 20s are such a confronting time; and of course, their blossoming romantic relationships (congrats on the engagement, Lindsey!). This episode is deep and thoughtful, especially with the ladies' ever calming voices and presence, but also offers up some good laughs along the way. Listen to Almost 30 anywhere you get your podcasts and check them and their Podcast Accelerator course out at https://almost30.com/ if you are a podcaster or interested in starting a podcast of your own. Slow Burn ft. Giulio Gallarotti
1:11:25Today I am joined by comedian, actor, and co-host of "OOPS the Podcast" Giulio Gallarotti. Giulio and I discuss his journey to becoming a successful comedian and some of the ups and downs he's had along the way. Other themes include maintaining energy when your job starts at night, why a slow burn can make for a successful relationship, NYC gossip girl/money culture, and more. Please note that this episode was recorded prior to the Dave Chapelle Netflix Special controversy, which I personally think makes Giulio's comments about him that much more interesting to reflect on and do so myself briefly in the intro. Buy tickets for Giulio's documentary premiere this upcoming Tuesday 11/09/21 at 9:30PM with this link :https://nycomedyfestival.com/lineup/standup-comedy-in-rwanda-its-not-so-different-live-event/ and follow Giulio on IG @notjulio.
