ACL Series: Episode 1 - ACL Clinical Pathway with Helen McElroy

This episode we dive into a brand new paper published by our very own Lewis Cowan titled: The effect of endurance (low intensity) training on managing the risk and progression of CVD in middle ages adults: a systematic review. Join as we dive into the different topics in Lewis' paper, discussing the effect of low intensity training (LIT) vs high intensity training (HIT) on CVD, Lewis' highlights through this journey, the challenges that come with publishing to research journals and what the future has in store.

Kicking off the New Year we have brought together an episode talking through Hoenig et al. 2024 International Delphi Consensus on Bone Stress Injuries in Athletes. We discuss 3 main areas of the agreement around terminology, risk factors and implementation of rehab as well as highlighting some of the key consensus statements that can be considered for clinicians in clinical practice. In this episode we discuss the Doha agreement written by Weir et al. (2015). We give general overview of what the Doha Agreement is and why it was necessary. We discuss how this seminal paper classified different areas of hip and groin pain to make diagnoses universal. We dive into the outcome measures suggested in this paper and their applications to clinical practice. We touch on non-exercise modalities and general treatment approaches. We summarise the strengths and weakness of the paper and provide recommendations for a future review and update of this paper 9 years on!
