Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year B) 2024

Rely on the LordThis 14th Sunday calls our attention to the need for complete dependence on God, which leads to a positive transformation in our lives. The dependence expresses itself through the attitudes of hope, faith and loving generosity described in the readings. Our names are written in heaven. Upon this rock I will build my churchOn the feast day of Saint Peter and Paul, we read about two very human saints sharing their journey in faith.  Whilst it was not easy, their trust in the Lord saved them.  

Some mysteries are easier to feel than to understand.  Jesus said "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now".Coming Sunday we celebrate a mystery often challenging to understand:   The Holy Trinity,  Rather than trying to understanding it, receive the harmony that it brings to us.  Join the Holy Trinity.  

Come Holy Spirit!On the feast of Pentecost, which many consider to be the birthday of the church, we are reminded that we are not left alone in the world after Jesus' ascension. Jesus sends us the holy spirit to teach and remind us of his love for us. Enkindle the hearts of the faithful Holy Spirit!

Apostolic foundation.I have said these things to you while I am still with you. The 6th Sunday of Easter continues to present key aspects of our faith and practice in relation to Jesus's resurrection, in particular the apostolic foundation upon which believers ought to build their lives upon.  Allow the holy spirit to guide us.

The Gospel this Sunday sounds so simple: "Love one another."But it is not easy to do in real life. Hence, we have the assurance from the Lord himself: "As I have loved you, so you should love one another." Let us 'source out' the power to love from the very love that Jesus has for us. We are 'loved' so we also have the power to love. 

The Good Shepherd knows his sheep; he cares for them and they will never perish. But the Shepherd is also the Lamb who has been offered for the life of the world, by whose blood we have been washed and saved.https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/051125.cfm

Breakfast with Jesus.The readings of the 3rd Sunday of Easter continue to explore the effects of Jesus's resurrection on the disciples. These effects could be summed up as gifts as the disciples are accorded a special dignity because of their connection to the conqueror of death, the Risen Lord. Take heart, be encouraged to spread these gifts with others!
