LAB-279-Switching Back to a Two-Wheel Harley Ultra From a Trike?

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com

About a year ago, Big Daddy Kane switched from a two-wheel Harley Ultra Limited to a Harley Tri-Glide trike. He was hoping that the trike would better serve his needs due to a few underlying medical issues. Well, there's only one way to find out, and that's to get a trike and ride the heck out of it. In episode 210 of the podcast, we had a great time discussing trikes and had another Haley Tri-glide rider present, Big Daddy Kane's dad. Take a listen!

Big Daddy rode the heck out of his Harley trike over the past year. Most recently, he rode it 3200 miles during a 9-day trip to Sturgis 2020, the 80th Anniversary. He was also riding with his passenger during the trip and riding in our larger group of about 12 motorcycles.

SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE

Big Daddy started experiencing some issues as a trike obviously handles differently than a two-wheel motorcycle. There is a lot more pressure on your arms and wrists as you are not leaning but turning the bars through corners. You use your arms a lot more and he was experiencing arm fatigue and wrist pain due to a medical issue.

He also found it difficult at times to keep up with the group, both while passing cars and during corners. Both are expected on a trike as you can't take corners as quickly and the heavier trike will not get up and go as fast while passing as a two-wheel Harley will.

There are many other things you should know if you're considering a Harley trike. With that said, Big Daddy switched because of some particular issues he was having, which others may not have. The trike is certainly perfect for many riders out there. Big Daddy is just sharing his personal experiences and journey while trying a trike during this episode, so take a listen.

Ultimately, Big Daddy traded in his Harley trike during Sturgis at Black Hills Harley-Davidson and left with a 2020 Harley Ultra Limited and he's loving it! That, along with many other things will be seen in my Sturgis 2020 documentary film when it's released!

LAB-289-NORTHERN WISCONSIN METUP 2021 | SPECIAL GUEST KRIS LIZAK & HIS WIFE WENDY

    52:04

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I had a chance to speak with Patron Member Kris Lizak and his wife, Wendy from Ashland, WI. I had the pleasure of meeting Kris in person at past Official Law Abiding Biker Patron Member ride and meetup events. As Law Abiding Biker Media continues to grow so does the awesome and supportive community. Aside from the yearly “official” Law Abiding Biker ride and meetup event, members are creating their own rides and meetups across the U.S. This is just awesome and who knows if this will start happening internationally! SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE We use the term “unsanctioned' event in a fun and playful way. Kris organized the event in the Private Patron Member-only group. He had posted this event in the Private Patron Member Only Facebook Group and got a great response!   We go over the details of what the event was all about, which was held on July 16, 2021, in Mercer, WI.  There was a beautiful day ride and then the actual meetup event. These events are low key and it's nothing but good hard working bikers/motorcyclists meeting up and sharing something we all have a passion for,  the sport of motorcycling. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! To be involved with these events, you'll need to be a mid-level or above Patron Member of Law Abiding Biker™ Media.  This is just one of many things going on in the private Facebook group, which is a troll-free zone. It is really just a bunch of good-hearted bikers helping and connecting with other bikers.! It's not like all those other less than credible Harley forums out there. There's no better time to sign up as a Patron Member and get access. #BikerRevolution We also get into Kris's background and have a great biker conversation in this episode so listen in for all the details. LAB-288-Harley Davidson 2022 Models & Changes In The Company

    43:10

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, we go over the possibilities for the 2022 Harley-Davidson models. There are many rumors floating around out there and we can't wait to see what they actually have in store. They have a virtual launch on 01/26/22 that you can sign up for. It has been confirmed that Harley will be cutting the Sporster 1200, Softail Slim, and Sport Glide from their cruiser lineup.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE There are also many changes within the company such and an online system to pre-order your new Harley-Davidson. It seems there will be fewer models at dealerships and Harley wants you to pre-order. You can fill out a form and a dealership will contact you.  Earlier this year, Harley created HD-1 Marketplace.  This allows customers to search used motorcycle inventory at Harley-Davidson dealers. The company also created the Harley-Davidson Certified program this year to help capture more of the used market and keep that business flowing through dealers.  CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! LAB-285-Indian vs. Harley-Davidson! Are We Switching?

    1:44:50

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com We compare an Indian Challenger to a Harley Road Glide in this podcast episode and tell you what you need to know if you are considering purchasing either. We were fortunate to have this Indian Challenger for a few weeks and filmed a complete 12″ handlebar and heated grips install on it. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE I ride a 2018 police Harley Electra Glide with the Milwaukee-Eight 107 ci air-cooled V-Twin engine for my day job so I can loosely compare it to the new Powerplus 108 ci liquid-cooled engine coming in the Indian Challenger. I also ride my Harley Street Glide Special with the 103 ci engine off-duty many thousands of miles a year along with other bikes.  I am also a police motorcycle instructor and I hope all of this qualifies me to review and compare the Indian to the Harley-Davidson.  See My "Indian vs. Harley-Davidson! Am I Switching?" Video! I used the base model of the Indian Challenger for this review. Now, this base model is identical to the Indian Challenger “Limited” and the Dark Horse, the black limited model, except for they cost $5,000 more. But, those more premium models are also coming with a few extra things and those are: Baked in GPS Navigation in the Ride Command Infotainment System Remotely locking saddlebags TPMS-Tire Pressure Management System Indian “Smart Lean Technology” CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Smart Lean Technology is Indian's version of Harley's RDRS or Reflex Defensive Rider System. Basically, both these systems adjust traction control and ABS systems based on lean angle making riding safer.  Now, that's a very dumbed-down version of what these systems do.  If you want to learn all about RDRS and whether you should spend the money on it, check my RDRS video out. For a Complete Breakdown & Differences Between The Harley Road Glide and Indian Challenger See My Article Here! The Indian is a badass bike and I think you'd be totally satisfied if you purchased it. The same thing goes for the Harley Road Glide. Much of it will come down to rider preference. If money were not an issue, I'd own one of each. LAB-284-Harley 2021 Electra Glide Revival? Back to Cable Clutches?

    1:29:44

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Have you seen the new Harley 2021 Electra Glide Revival? It's part of Harley's new "Icons Collection". Harley says this collection is, "an extraordinary series of motorcycles inspired by some of our most recognizable and sought-after models. Each Icon in the collection will celebrate H-D’s signature colors, designs and parts — along with the latest technology. A limited collection, each model will be individually numbered and only produced once. A new Icon will debut annually, with no more than two bikes released in any given year." SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE We had special guest and long time Patron Member Russell Roberts on a mic for this podcast episode. He happened to be in our area, so of course, we offered up a mic! Lurch and I had a great time catching up with Russell and we talked about some of the awesome things going on with the community in the Private Patron Member Only Facebook Group! On their website, Harley goes on to describe the new 2021 Electra Glide Revival as, "a modern reproduction of the 1969 classic. Loaded with all of the current technology including Reflex™ Defensive Rider Systems*, Boom! Box GTS 6.5 Radio with Apple CarPlay® compatibility and powered by the Milwaukee-Eight® 114 engine, this unmistakable silhouette recreates that moment in time with tri-tone paint and period correct badging." CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! We give our thoughts and opinions about the new Electra Glide Revival and the overall Icons Collection Harley has introduced. We certainly all agree that it's a specialty motorcycle and will only appeal to a small segment of the market. Maybe this collection is a way to revive the rich history of Harley-Davidson and through social media posts, it may catch the eyes of those on the fence about buying a Harley? It may just be a way to get more eyes on their motorcycles.  Last, we talk about Harley-Davidson reverting back to the cable clutch system on their 2021 touring models. From 2014 to 2020, Harley had a much better hydraulic clutch system on the touring line-up. This has really stunned many loyal Harley owners as many feel it's a backward step in technology. It feels cheap for Harley to do this and then not reduce the price of the motorcycle. After all, this is supposed to be a premium touring motorcycle? And now with a cable clutch? Really Harley? The Harley hydraulic clutch system was a much better system and caused less hand fatigue. Plus, it was self-adjusting and always had a consistent pull and friction zone, unlike cable clutches. If you actually like some adjustment on the clutch lever itself on hydraulic systems, then there are many aftermarket adjusting levers to choose from.  You'll really need to listen to this podcast episode as we break everything down and tell you what you need to know. LAB-283-Shopping for Progressive Motorcycle Riding Jackets & Gear With Guest Brad Johnston

    1:20:28

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Recently Patron Member Brad Johnston went through an exploration of progressive motorcycle jackets. Along the road, he realized it wasn’t a destination to happiness for him.  He realized he was not the only one to head down that road, after all, bikers are all a lot more alike than different.  Brad hopes that by hearing his story, he helps bikers realize they are not alone. This is part of his contribution as a biker helping other bikers.   Brad actually wrote a detailed article with links to all the gear we talk about in this episode! SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Here is an excerpt from Brad's article: "With my first Harley, I purchased a very progressive 4 season motorcycle jacket.  The FXRG Switchback jacket.  Zip-off leather panels left it as a mesh jacket and it had zip-out rain and thermal liners.  I also ride with a Scorpion flannel with built-in kevlar panels in impact areas and pockets for armor.  All filled with D30 CE level 1 armor.  Two years ago I picked up a Street and Steel jacket that is textile and a hard finish.  It looks just like the black hard-finished fleece jackets that are so popular in the spring and fall here in the northwest.  The real difference is that it has pockets for armor and vents under the armpits.  It has been a fantastic lightweight jacket.   CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Recently, the zipper broke on my FXRG jacket.  Because of the lifetime warranty on FXRG gear, the zipper is going to get replaced.  It got me shopping for a new progressive jacket though.  Over the last month, I have done a lot of looking and I have done some soul searching.  The conclusions I came to may be relevant to others."   READ MORE ==>  NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: I Just Bought & Rode My First Adventure Motorcycle? Prior to recording the podcast, we had spent the day in the Law Abiding Biker shop filming a rear Rockford Fosgate speaker install on his 2017 Harley Road Glide Special. That video will eventually release along with other stereo install videos here! SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Brad is another great example of the supportive biker community that surrounds Law Abiding Biker™ Media. He supports us financially as a Patron Member so we can continue to help, educate, entertain, and inspire as many bikes as we can worldwide. There are many benefits to becoming a Patron Member and one of them is being able to attend ride and meetup events, such as  Brad has several times. In fact, Brad hosted a Patron Member ride in Oregon in 2020 and I produced a documentary film on that ride titled, Riding Motorcycles in Real America! CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Lurch and I had a great time talking with Brad, who is a retired law enforcement officer. In fact, he rose to be the Chief of the Astoria, Oregon Police Department. After retirement, Brad took on a new career of teaching but he still finds plenty of time to ride his Harley local and long-distance. He is very involved with the Patron community in the Private Facebook Group and we love having him as a member.  NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: Sena High Definition (HD) Motorcycle Helmet Speakers & Harley/Sena Boom Audio Headsets! LAB-281-Installing Taller Aftermarket Handlebars on an Indian Challenger Project

    1:21:50

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com We spent the entire day installing 12" aftermarket handlebars on a 2020 Indian Challenger. The stock handlebars on these bikes are not comfortable for many riders and many just don't like the look of them. In this episode, we break down what you need to know if you're considering this handlebar install project on your Indian motorcycle.  We wanted to film the entire install and make another awesome tutorial video for the biker community to save money and not have to take their Indian motorcycle to a dealership to do this. Our Indian Handlebar Install Video will eventually release, so keep checking back. If you have a Harley, then check out one of our awesome Harley Handlebar Install Tutorial Videos! SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Don't forget that you can get all our awesome premium motorcycle tutorial videos here! Or watch one of our 600+ free videos on our YouTube Channel. Don't forget to subscribe while you're there so you're notified when we release new videos! It is worth noting that Indian seems to leave enough wires, brake line, and throttle cable to install up to 14" aftermarket bars without having to extend those. If you go any taller than 14" then you'll need to extend those for sure. When released, our video will even show you that process.  As we dug deeper into the Indian, we liked some of the engineering things they do but also like some things Harley does better.  We learned so many things during this project that we share with you in this episode. Your Indian motorcycle may throw some diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) when doing this project and that's normal. We'll show you how to clear those codes within the Indian Ride Command infotainment system.  CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Our video will be very detailed and you'll be able to do this project right in your own shop or garage with standard tools.  To get a ton of information, you'll need to listen to this podcast episode.  New Free Video Mentioned:  Revit Worker Overshirt Review-Motorcycle Riding Shirt Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! LAB-280-Installing New Front Suspension on a Harley Touring

    1:09:42

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com We spent the day installing aftermarket front suspension on Oscar's 2013 Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited. Of course, we filmed the entire project and it will eventually release on our YouTube Channel so make sure you're subscribed! In this episode, Oscar and I generally discuss the different options for aftermarket front suspension for Harley-Davidson motorcycles along with why you would want to do this. In Oscar's case, it was because his suspension was becoming very soft, which was affecting his front braking and making for a rough ride, especially when he had his passenger on the back. His front end was really dipping when applying the front brakes.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE You should also change out your front fork fluid at regularly recommended intervals. We discuss how to do this and also filmed it for release on our YouTube channel. Renewing your fork fluid can help with some front suspension issues you may be having. The procedures for this can vary a bit from year to year.  This article is just an overview about changing out the front suspension on your Harley and you really need to listen in to this podcast episode as we go over all the fine details of this project. We talk about what we learned during this project, some tips and tricks, and things to avoid.  CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! You can change out your front suspension on your Harley right in your very own shop or garage with the help of our video.
