#8 - Female Sport - Participation & Performance with Dr Orlagh Farmer

On today’s show I am joined by Dr Orlagh Farmer. Orlagh is a Lecturer in Applied Early Childhood Studies in the Dundalk Institute of Technology and she has recently been awarded her PhD in Female Youth Sport Participation in the Sport Studies Physical Education Department at the University College Cork. Orlagh is also a qualified PE Teacher and she is a hugely successful sports person in Ladies Gaelic Football; holding 6 All Ireland Senior Inter County medals with Cork. On today’s episode Orlagh discusses her coaching background and influences, her sporting journey as a player, her research towards improving the participation of young girls in sport, successes and organisational issues as a performance athlete around women’s Gaelic Games and her Movement Mission to impact girls worldwide and much more.
