    Laughter as a Healing Method

    How important can a laugh be? There are many factors that we must take into consideration when taking care of our mental and emotional health, such as following a balanced diet, having a morning routine, physical activity, etc. However, occasionally, we talk about an important natural factor that can help us regulate our mood, and that is our laughter. Surely you have already heard of "Laughter therapy". To back up this therapy, there have been several studies done, and it has been determined that laughter is a healing gift for human beings, this is why we also encounter many programs where a group of people goes to hospitals dressed as clowns or movie characters to make children smile and lift their spirits. Usually, we all know a person with a different vibe that is always laughing, transmits their joy to everyone around them and that just their presence lifts everyone's mood. Now, I want you to think of that person whom you know and try to count the times this person has been sick this you've met them... this person probably tends to get less sick than the rest, and this is due to what is called the mind-body connection. Laughter also has its chemical reactions in our brain which help the organs of the body such as the heart, to strengthen the immune system and other benefits on an emotional level such as pain management and stress reduction. It may sound a bit illogical, but during difficult moments in our lives, something as simple as laughing can be very helpful and the spark that ignites the attitude to stop thinking about the problem and focus on the solutions.     How to Overcome Difficulties

    Life has many ups and downs, and we all have to go through them. Difficult situations are one of those things that sometimes we can't avoid, a situation in which we feel that we have lost our way, and we have a perception in which we believe that we are "victims of the circumstances ”. These events can be as inevitable as the loss of a loved one or a pet, difficult financial times, a love breakup, and even the loss of a job or the disapproval of a school subject. When we go through these situations, it is normal to want to throw everything down the drain and think things like “I have come this far, but I can't take it anymore”, to have feelings of sadness and frustration mixed with the stress that they can generate and can even paralyze us, minimizing our capacity for action. However, at these times is when it is essential to apply all our resilience and put into practice all the tools that we have acquired up to that moment to face these difficulties. While it is true that when we go through these hard situations we think that life is against us and that there is nothing left to do, we have to remember that life is about living experiences and learning from them, showing what we're made of and keep pushing forward as many times as necessary.     Building my Self-Confidence

    When we are born, we come with very little information and essential skills to overcome the first stage of our lives, however, with time we start developing new skills and acquire new capabilities. Like responsibility, discipline, respect, and even self-confidence; without realizing it, we learn multiple things since we are children, an example is when we start riding a bicycle, we start with the training wheels, then when we gain confidence we take away one little wheel to gain balance until we end up removing both, and we start with the practice of trial and error, falling and getting up again and again with the perception of the self-confidence that we place in ourselves that we can achieve it until we finally achieve our goal. When we were little, even if no one had mentioned the word self-confidence to us, we were going to work on it because it is a normal instinct, as we saw in the previous example. Not believing in ourselves will lead us to a demotivating and anxiety-filled life, one that can take our biggest dreams and goals from us. One way to visualize it would be to imagine a balance and place at one of its extremes all those opportunities and moments that we have forbidden ourselves from living due to the insecurity we feel and the fear of facing a new experience. The reality of life is that it constantly puts us to the test, day after day situations are always presented to us where we are forced to face it and that is when the self-confidence that we have should come out.     How to Use Your Time Wisely

    We currently live in an era where technology is evolving rapidly, we now have the pressure of feeling like we should check what is going on with our friends and in the world almost every minute, but the reality is that we do not have the time or energy to take all that information in at the same time. On many occasions, these events that distract us, such as television with its series and news, the telephone with its social networks, and sometimes even people, separate us from our goals and desires. Today, focusing on our goals has perhaps become a little more difficult given all the obstacles that lie ahead, but it is still essential to succeed in life. Being able to focus is an important skill that allows us to be present on the path that we must take to achieve our goals, regardless of all the factors that may distract us from them. If we are undisciplined at the beginning, it can take a lot of work not to lose our way. A solution to this is to set small goals that lead us to the main one, hand in hand with motivation or a reward system that allows us to have a moment of rest, but at the same time feel the satisfaction of having achieved a step and being rewarded for it. Concentration is a very powerful tool that can be associated with the law of attraction, since whenever a thought is present, our brain and our energies will revolve around it until it is fulfilled, for this same reason, we can see that when a person focus on a problem that can have a hard time getting out of it, instead of looking at possible solutions and focusing on them. There is a range of solutions to open our minds and achieve the focus we need in life to achieve what we want.     How to be Your Own Best Friend

    The phrase "to love someone else, you must first love yourself" is a very popular and truthful one. Love and friendship are very important factors for human beings, sometimes feeling part of something becomes an instinct, and we are looking for communities with which to identify ourselves or people who share our own interests so we can finally, develop a friendship or even a romance. However, it is also true that a vast majority of people have experienced disappointments regarding friendships and from then on they are afraid of making new friends. However, despite the circumstances and people around us, you should know that there will always be a friendship that is for life and that is willing to not fail you, that friendship is the one we have with ourselves. We always try to be good friends with each other, but how good are you to yourself? A friend is there to celebrate your triumphs, but at the same time to support and advise you in failures, the fact that you can count on your own friendship allows you to be understanding with yourself, it allows us to give ourselves the space to be with our own ourselves and be reflective about our actions. When we work on our own friendship we can acquire self-confidence and start feeling proud of ourselves, knowing that we are capable of achieving whatever we put our mind into.     How to Feel Capable

    Often we find ourselves in situations where we want to do things or make decisions, but we run into uncertainty and fear of taking action and not taking action. This has to do with the lack of self-confidence we have, where sometimes an external motivation is required to achieve what we want. Confidence in ourselves makes us feel like we are capable of achieving whatever we set our mind to. To be able to feel capable of doing something is a thing that develops from our childhood to adulthood. When we set a goal and go after it, we gain confidence and believe in ourselves until we reach the point where we do not doubt it and simply carry out the plans. But... What happens when we do not feel capable of achieving what we set out to do? We don't take action due to a self-perception issue, we unconsciously think that we are going to fail, and in a series of negative thoughts that perhaps many times are also fed by other people until finally, we program ourselves to think that we really cannot carry out a certain activity.     Feeling Proud of your Achievements

    Sometimes we come across situations in which we question the things we have achieved, for example when we go to a job interview, and they ask us questions such as "Tell me 5 positive things about yourself" or "Tell me about the great things you have achieved", that's when we may notice that perhaps it can be easier for us to identify our defects than to identify our virtues or mention the achievements we have obtained in lives. And this is not necessarily because of a matter of sorrow or forgetfulness but because we usually don't have in mind the meritorious things we have achieved, and sometimes we don't even feel pride for the good things that we've done. Having our achievements in mind and feeling happy about them is key to maintain our self-esteem at a healthy level since those are a fundamental part of what defines us as a person. Personal achievements can have different meanings for each person and do not necessarily have to be material, such as buying a house after a lot of effort or pay for your children's university, apart from these very pleasant things, an achievement can also be something intangible to the sense of touch but very real in our change and internal satisfaction, and perhaps we can think that it is something small, but it fills our soul. An example of this could be when we tried for years to make our grandmother's recipe, and we could not get it to turn out the same but with many attempts, practice, and learning from mistakes, we finally get it, it seems something simple but without a doubt, it is an act that fills us with great pride once achieved.
