Title: How to Deal With Complications – Both at Work and at Home Guest faculty: Christopher Shaffrey, MD Host: Lara Massie, MD and Scott Zuckerman, MD, MPH Every surgeon will experience complications. We are often protected in residency from feeling the true weight of the responsibility or dealing with the patient long-term. Dr. Christopher Shaffrey will discuss how to manage complications medically/ethically, the shame that accompanies them, and how to both protect yourself and the patient from the challenging feelings that are difficult to navigate.
