Kegan Kline, a 30-year-old Indiana man, became a central figure in the investigation surrounding the Delphi murders after police discovered he had been operating an online catfishing profile under the alias “anthony_shots.” Using fake photos of a male model, Kline posed as a wealthy young man to lure underage girls into explicit conversations. One of those accounts was found to have communicated with Liberty German, one of the two teenage victims murdered near the Monon High Bridge in Delphi, Indiana, in February 2017. When authorities traced the IP address back to Kline’s home in Peru, Indiana, they uncovered a vast archive of child sexual exploitation material, leading to his arrest in 2020. In 2023, Kline was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to 25 felony counts of child exploitation, possession of child pornography, and obstruction of justice.

Though Kline has not been charged with the Delphi murders themselves, his digital trail has kept him at the center of public speculation and law enforcement scrutiny. Court documents reveal that Kline’s “anthony_shots” account was in contact with Libby the day before the murders, and investigators have explored whether that communication played a role in luring the girls to the bridge. Authorities searched a river near Kline’s home in 2022, reportedly based on information he provided during interrogation, but no evidence linking him directly to the killings was recovered. Defense attorneys for Richard Allen, the man currently charged in the Delphi case, have even considered calling Kline as a witness — a sign of how entangled his name remains in the case’s murky narrative. Despite repeated denials of involvement, Kline’s manipulation of minors and proximity to the victims’ final communications make him one of the most disturbing figures orbiting the Delphi tragedy.
