    Public Enemy: Number One!

    45:19

Coming together out of the fertile environment of Adelphi University and its college radio station, Public Enemy burst forth with a wall of power, a collective that changed Hip-Hop and helped forge an unholy alliance with Metal! Their song, "Fight The Power" played an actual role in Spike Jones' "Do The Right Thing," which put the group on the radar of a much wider audience. In this week's adventure, we explore the band's roots as a loosely associated group of artists who converge via WBAU, coalescing as The Bomb Squad, with unreal "solid work" being set off. It's a rambling, veering off-kilter look at PE, who have been part of both Imbalanced Brothers' musical life! Hats off to the samplers, the DJs scratchin' it out, the MCs sayin' it! Give it up for The Funky Drummer!!! Take time to learn stuff about stuff you already know stuff about! Listen to this cool episode, and then get caught up here!!! Bessie & The Wolf

    1:08:54

Profiles In The Blues is a new umbrella concept on the podcast! In the initial episode, the Imbalanced Brothers delve deeper into the subjects of Bessie Smith, The Empress Of The Blues, (who's been mentioned before), and Chester Burnett's alter ego, Howlin' Wolf! She was The Empress Of The Blues, he was the Howlin' Wolf, both amazing forces of musical nature in their own unique way! These two under-appreciated American artists are part of the legacy that this podcast was founded to spotlight. While there will be many more episodes in this arena, we invite you enjoy this ep, and then dig back for our stories, and three episodes, about Robert Johnson, if you find the time! The FBI vs. Jim Morrison

    52:33

At the end of "Jim Morrison: 50 Years Gone" episode, Markus dropped a paper bomb in the form of The Doors, and Jim Morrison's FBI files! Weeks later, he and Ray were back in the studio discussing these files, available under the Freedom Of Information Act. The Doors are a band whose history is both overblown, and yet under-explored. So, let's learn things at the same time as your hosts, and discover some of the truth behind the persecution of Jim and The Doors! If you want to explore these files, click on through to our Doors Blog where you'll find both files, as well as, "Jim Morrison's Felony Arrest Poetry Jam!" The Aerosmith Story, Part Two

    30:43

When you look into the history of a major band such as Aerosmith, you can't just force it to fit into one episode, so why try? That was the attitude the Imbalanced Brothers had on the outset of this adventure. Too often they've found themselves with a two-part story in progress while in-session. Looking at Steven, Joe, Brad, Tom & Joey seemed like a daunting task until they decided to make it two parts. Part Two is about scraping the bottom and somehow rising to the top once again! One of the greatest comeback stories in Rock & Roll History! And while the band didn't break up, and had some success throughout all phases of their career, the way they roar back into the public eye, with great album after great album, most likely staved off the cold, slow fade away they appeared headed for by the end of Episode One. The Aerosmith Story, Part One

    50:02

Markus and Ray like to take on a topic, discussing and covering it completely. Sometimes that requires taking it on in two parts. A band of the magnitude of Aerosmith is one such unit, with an amazingly long life as a band, all self-inflicted odds aside. In their case, it's a story of coming together as friends, rising...then crashing as brothers, before rising again! One of Rock's great comebacks! This week it's Part One, back to their roots, coming together in Boston before taking on the world! The discussion in Part One focuses on those early days through their crazy "Nights In The Ruts."
