How Michael Jordan Helped Me To Quit Drinking
33:06How Michael Jordan helped me to quit drinking is something I write about in my book and I thought it would be good to share a little snippet of this with you today. Because it literally shifted everything for me and helped me to quit drinking and feel good about it with no worry or fear that I would pick it up again, which is very powerful, I know. What I am going to share with you today is also the reason that I am over five years alcohol free, feel 100% secure and confident that I will stay alcohol-free, and have been able to face life and the awful events of the past few months without the thought of alcohol entering my head, even the tiniest little bit. I hope you enjoy this inspiring and hopefully motivating poddcast episode to help you to quit drinking and feel good about it. Sobriety & Suicide - The Podcast I Didn't Want to Make
1:03:07Sobriety & Suicide - The Podcast I didn't want to make, yet I feel is necessary. I have not shared anything new with you for two months because I’ve been in a very difficult place, trying to cope with the unimaginable loss of my son. As the title suggests, this is a podcast about loss and love, suicide and sobriety, extremely hard things to talk about, but I feel that it is my duty to talk about them. This is a very distressing sbject, so please listen with caution and if you feel triggered by the content or it affects you in any way then please get support. I don’t want to burden anyone with this or cause pain. However, I do feel like I am being blocked somehow by this and need to get it out in order to move through and forward. This won’t be a neat and tidy podcast, with helpful hints for you take away, it’s not that kind of podcast, but I do hope that by sharing my experiences it will help you to see that there is another way, various ways in fact to deal with life, to cope with tragic, heartbreaking events, tend to our emotions and find tiny moments of comfort in what is otherwise and impossible situation. Alcohol is not the way, not the way at all and I am extremely grateful for my sobriety, without which I would not be here now, there’s no way I would be still upright if I was drinking. ** At the beginning I say two weeks - it should be two months. And, when I say 2003, I mean 2023 (fuzzy brain!) Do Mummies Really Need Wine?
39:38Do Mummies really need wine? An important conversation with Celeste Yvonne. Like me, you might know Celeste from 'The Ultimate Mom Challenge' and her writing around motherhood, the difficult and challenging aspects of parenting, and the Mummy wine culture which is what we're talking about today. We chat about how Celeste first got into writing, how she gave up drinking secretly and how her first year of sobriety felt lonely and steeped in shame and fear. Now over five years sober, Celeste uses her writing and community involvement to suport other mothers who are struggling with alcohol and we talk about the support available to help other mothers including the Sober Mom Squad of which Celeste is a founding host. Celest also shares her favouite and most effective tools that continue to support her on her sober path and we hear about Celeste's book which is coming out, all about the mental load of motherhood and mommy wine culture and how they interconnect.
