On this episode of Design For The People, I’m joined by Rebecca Thomson & Rachita Saraogi, the co-founders of Sisterhood.Sisterhood is an award-winning grassroots organisation and a creative design programme for young women aged 13-17 to unleash their creative confidence in order to help realise their full potential.Sisterhood achieves this through design education. Empowering girls to become future leaders, creators and changemakers. Mathilda Della Torre is the graphic designer and illustrator behind Conversations from Calais, a project that aims to re-humanise those affected by the refugee crisis by using posters in public spaces, to share conversations volunteer staff have had with migrants. Kenneth Bailey is the Sector Organizing and Strategy Lead, and co-founder of the Boston-based, Design Studio for Social Intervention. Also known as DS4SI. His work is focused on the research and development of design tools, for marginalized communities to address complex social issues. In 2020, Kenneth alongside Lori Lobenstine, and Ayako Maruyama published a book called Ideas Arrangements Effects. Nosa Igbinedion is a British-Nigerian filmmaker, editor and motion graphics designer, based in the UK. Martin Goodrich was the co-founder of the Free Form Community Arts Trust, established in 1969. Free Form was a groundbreaking artist-led organisation, and a pioneer of participative community projects across the UK.
