The Women's Rugby Show Weekly

In this episode of the podcast we look at both round two of WXV 1 and also the start of the Premiership Women's Rugby season. We hear from New Zealand's Maia Roos on her career to date and the threat of facing England and also hear from the England camp with Amy Cokayne, Louis Deacon and Marlie Packer. And in the PWR we hear from Loughborough's Nathan Smith and Alicia Maude, Saracens Alex Austerberry and Bryony Field as well as Bristol's Dave Ward and Amber Reed.

In the first of two episodes coming your way this week, we are focussing on WXV 3, the final two qualification places for next year's Rugby World Cup, and in particular - Spain vs the Netherlands. We hear from Spain captain Cristina Blanco, whose side is in pole position to reach the World Cup and also Netherlands captain Linde van der Velden, who will be looking to upset the odds.

From Alex Matthews who's captaining England for the first time & Scotland's Rachel Malcolm ahead of her 50th cap to New Zealand's Marcelle Parkes on her incredible journey back to a Black Ferns jersey & Team USA Olympic bronze medallist Alev Kelter.

Sam is back again for another episode of TWRS Weekly where this week we talk BUCS Women's Super Rugby, Barbarians and also hear from the Wallaroos camp. We chat to Hartpury's Lowri Davies following their opening BUCS game in the newly named BUCS Women's Super Rugby against Edinburgh. We also speak to Abi Meyrick following her 'trip of a lifetime' to Cape Town with the Barbarians. And finally we heard from Jo Yapp - Australia's head coach - ahead of their game against Wales.

We are back for another season of The Women's Rugby Show Weekly and we are kicking this season off with a cracker as Sam previews the Red Roses clash with the Black Ferns of New Zealand. We hear from Black Ferns prop Amy Rule on the infamous 2021 New Zealand tour and where the Black Ferns are ahead of next years World Cup. We also hear from the England camp with Jess Breach and Lark Atkin-Davies.

Ten years on from England's 2014 Rugby World Cup win, Sam spoke with a legend of the game and England centurion Tamara Taylor to discuss her memories of the tournament. We spoke about the state of the game at the time, England bouncing back from consecutive final defeats, police escorts, Take That and the relief at the final whistle. With the Paris 2024 Olympics having come to an end, Sam caught up with two-time Olympic champion, New Zealand's Michaela Blyde. Michaela chatted all things rugby sevens, winning a 2nd gold in Paris, the shape of Women's rugby, what's next and a certain Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. An inspiring fourty minutes with a legend of the game.

This week on TWRS Weekly we focus on the Women’s Summer Series in Parma, a brand new tournament for the U20s sides of the Six Nations team.  Sam spoke to England’s Sophie Langford and Kira Leat, Scotland’s Head Coach Claire Cruikshank and the Scottish full-back Lucia Scott. We promised you last week more previews of the PWR final, so here it is! This week Sam hears from Gloucester-Hartpury prop Maud Muir as well as Bristol Bears quartet Holly Aitchison, Lark Atkin-Davies, Keira Bevan and Alisha Joyce-Butchers.
