In this episode I discuss sailing in the Ionian islands. The Ionian islands are the islands off the west coast of Greece. It is a very popular chartering area because of the predictable weather patterns, relatively flat seas, and diversity of anchorages and villages to visit. While this used to be one of my favorite places to sail in Greece the massive expansion of the charter fleets in this area have detracted significantly from its appeal. While this is a great place to take a new sailor or a family for a relatively safe chartering vacation you will have to put up with crowded anchorages, overpriced restaurants, and some lack of charm due to this massive tourist development.
