The Cybersecurity division of the Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Agency (CISA) leads the endeavor to secure federal, civilian, and government networks in cooperation with the private sector to maintain the security of the critical networks of our nation. ClearanceJobs had a conversation with one of the prominent female voices heading the incident response teams.


Alexis Wales, the Associate Director of Threat Hunting, is one of the leading females working for the department for the last 12 years. The threat hunting team is portion of CISA that is pioneering new approaches to the tradecraft that we call threat hunting – working in the cyber domains, anywhere from network infrastructure, to mobile, to cloud, searching for the bad guys in cyber clothing. “Our job is to do the nearly impossible – to find the unknowns,” Wales says.
