Million Dollar Cocktail (cocktailclub.com): Ingredients 50ml Gin 25ml Sweet Vermouth 20ml Pineapple juice 15ml Grenadine 15ml Egg white 1 Pineapple wedge Directions Cut your pineapple ready for garnish. Fill both your coupe glass and shaker with cubed ice. Pour all the ingredients into your shaker. Close the shaker and shake hard for 9 seconds. Empty the ice from your coupe glass back into the ice bucket. Take off the small top off the shaker and strain out the mix into the coupe. Garnish with your Pineapple. Welcome to season 9! I am almost to my 200th episode! For this season premiere I am covering Addams Family Values, because I wanted to do a Thanksgiving themed film, well this one is a bit of a stretch but it has a Thanksgiving play in the dead of summer. This film has some unexpected stars as children and others were just early in their career, enjoy seeing them so young. Black Widow Cocktail (zestysouthindiankitchen.com): Ingredients For blackberry juice: 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice 1/2 cup blackberries For black widow cocktail 1 oz simple syrup 4 oz blackberry juice 2 oz vodka Ice Blackberries for garnish Directions Blackberry juice To make blackberry juice In a blender add black berries and lemon juice and process fine and strain it . Black widow cocktail Then in glass filled ice add blackberry juice, simple syrup and vodka and mix with stir and garnish with blackberries and enjoy If you can get hold of dry ice use it just before serving. This week I am joined by Danielle, a formal journalist, who I met at the ATX TV Festival, and she wanted to cover one of her favorite movies, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead. If you don't know what the film is about, here is the synopsis: Sue Ellen Crandell (Christina Applegate) is a teenager eagerly awaiting her mother's (Concetta Tomei) summer-long absence. While the babysitter (Eda Reiss Merin) looks after her rambunctious younger siblings, Sue Ellen can party and have fun. But then the babysitter abruptly dies, leaving the Crandells short on cash. Sue Ellen finds a sweet job in fashion by lying about her age and experience on her résumé. But, while her siblings run wild, she discovers the downside of adulthood. White Wine Spritzer: Ingredients 3 parts Sauvignon Blanc 1 part club soda Lime wedge Directions Pour wine into an ice filled wine glass. Top with club soda, and garnish with a lime wedge. Bored housewife seduces hot pizza guy for free pizza, but is desire worth $29.99? Do I have your attention yet? This short film was fantastic! It was cheesy, gooey, funny, and full of parmesan and tomato sauce. This was such a fun interview and I hope that one day you can all watch this short film. Pizza Anytime Ingredients For the Parmesan Salt ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese 2 Tbsp. kosher salt For the cocktail 1 Tbsp. everything bagel spice mix, plus more for garnish 2 oz. vodka 4 oz. marinara sauce ¾ oz. fresh lemon juice ⅛ tsp. hot sauce 1 lemon wedge Parmesan Salt Pork pepperoni slice and lemon wedge, for garnish Directions The Parmesan Salt In a small bowl, combine the Parmesan and salt. Using the tips of your fingers, smoosh the salt and cheese together until evenly mixed. (Alternatively, you can use a spice grinder or mortar and pestle, if available.) The cocktail In a glass or small bowl, combine the everything bagel spice and the vodka. Let sit for 10 minutes to infuse, then strain the vodka through a fine-mesh strainer into a shaker, discarding the solids. Add the marinara sauce, lemon juice, and hot sauce. Shake briefly, without ice, to combine. Use a lemon wedge to moisten the rim of a tall glass and then dip it in the Parmesan Salt to coat the rim. Fill the glass with ice and pour in the contents of the shaker. Garnish with a pepperoni slice and a lemon wedge on a pick and sprinkle some everything bagel seasoning over the top. Serve with a bubble tea straw. the camera cuts to his face looking stupid as hell. cheese drips, a glob of it. you feel aroused, but confused. As always, drink responsibly and with others. It was fun sitting down on Zoom and chatting about The Door with writer and director Alexander Seltzer for HollyShorts. The short film synopsis is a year after their daughter’s disappearance, Kara and Felix struggle to move on in their own ways as their marriage falls apart around them. But when a mysterious door appears in her kitchen, Kara becomes obsessed with uncovering what lies behind it at any cost. Even as it threatens to reopen old wounds. The Mystery Martini (saq.com): Ingredients 45 ml (1 1/2 oz.) dry gin 15 ml (1/2 oz.) herb liqueur (like green Chartreuse) 45 ml (1 1/2 oz.) white cranberry juice Ice cubes 1 slice of kiwi Directions Combine gin, herb liqueur and cranberry juice in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for 8 to 10 seconds. Strain into a Martini glass using an ice strainer. Garnish with kiwi slice. Rusty Nail Cocktail (njoyspirits.com): Ingredients 4 parts Scotch 1 part Drambuie 1 large cube "clear ice" Directions Pour all ingredients directly into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. Stir gently. Garnish with a lemon twist. Serve. Road Trip Cocktail (feastmagazine.com): Ingredients 1 oz cognac (such as Pierre Ferrand) 1 oz rye whiskey (such as Rittenhouse) ½ oz crème de cassis 1 barspoon lingonberry preserves 1 oz lemon juice granulated sugar, for rim kosher salt, for rim lemon twist, for garnish Directions Make a mixture that is half salt and half sugar; rim serving glass with mixture. Add all other ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds, then strain into serving glass. Garnish with lemon twist. Joy Ride Drinking Game: Drink when... This film was done so beautifully for such a hard subject matter to discuss. Play Date was a film that I am glad I got to watch for HollyShorts, but so glad I was able to interview Amberlee Colson and Laura Campbell to dive deeper into the film. According to their website (playdate-film.com), the short film is about two estranged mothers reunite to make sense of their daughter's last play date. I hope that you can check it out sometime and I hope this film reaches so many people. “Play Date is an attempt to comprehend not only the depth of loss incurred by the parents of school shooting victims, but also the mental contortions the rest of us have to perform in order to keep living in a world where a day at school or a night at the movies can mean the end of the world as we know it.” - Gavin Broady Writer’s Statement Sazerac Dream Cocktail: Ingredients Absinthe, to rinse 1 sugar cube 1/2 teaspoon cold water 4 dashes Peychaud’s bitters 2 1/2 ounces rye whiskey Garnish: lemon peel Directions Rinse a chilled rocks glass with absinthe, discarding any excess, and set aside. In a mixing glass, muddle the sugar cube, water and the Peychaud’s bitters. Add the rye whiskey, fill the mixing glass with ice and stir 15­–20 seconds, until well-chilled. Strain into the prepared glass. Twist the lemon peel over the drink’s surface to express the peel’s oils, then garnish with the peel. Tetris Cocktail (adultbar.com.au): Ingredients 30ml of Curaçao Red Senior Co 30ml of Curaçao Green Senior Co 30ml of Curaçao Blue Senior Co 150ml of Lemon Soda Directions (served room temperature) Add water into glass. Use three shot glasses. Place each curaçao into shot glasses. Pour the lemon soda into short glass. Drink each curaçao at a time with the soda. Beguiling. Grilled Cheese Martini (thrillest.com): Ingredients 4 cups vodka 2 cups tomato juice 1 bunch basil, removed from stems 1 handful orange cherry tomatoes 6 slices white bread 6 slice cheddar cheese Balsamic glaze 3 slices prosciutto Ice Coffee filters Directions On a griddle, butter one side of 6 pieces of toast and place them butter-side down. Allow them to crisp up, but not fully brown, and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each un-buttered side of toast. Allow cheese to melt slightly and flip sandwiches together to make 3 separate grilled cheese sandwiches. Continue to flip the sandwiches until they form a nice golden crust. Slice each sandwich in quarters and stuff into a mason jar. Fill the mason jar entirely with vodka. Allow grilled cheese and vodka to infuse overnight. Fill an ice cube tray with tomato juice and stick into the the freezer overnight. Strain out the vodka by placing 2 coffee filters into a strainer. Pour the vodka through carefully, assuring the filters are straining out any lipids. You can also fish out the sandwiches and squeeze the liquid soaked up by the bread. Set vodka aside. On a griddle, crisp up the prosciutto and break into small bits and place on a small plate. On another plate, pour a layer of balsamic glaze. Rim your glass first with the balsamic glaze and then with the prosciutto bits. Set aside. In a shaker, muddle the basil and cherry tomatoes. Pour in 4 oz of the vodka and ice and shake vigorously. Strain and pour the drink into the glass over a single tomato ice cube. This short film was part of HollyShorts this year. Depression is a hard subject for people to talk about, but it has become more and more open in discussions and people are becoming more and more aware. I really enjoyed chatting with Courtney Dixon about her documentary, it was done very well and takes a new approach to depression. I hope you can all check it out someday when it is available to stream. Bloody Mary (food.com): Ingredients 3 c tomato juice 3 tbsp lemon juice 3 tbs lime juice 1 tbsp prepared horseradish 1 1⁄2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 1⁄4 tsp garlic powder 3⁄4 tsp Tabasco sauce 3⁄4 tsp celery salt 1⁄2 tsp coarse black pepper 1⁄3cup pickle juice 1 oz vodka, per drink Directions In a blender combine the tomato juice, lemon juice, lime juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, pickle juice, and hot sauce and process until smooth. Transfer to a nonreactive container and add celery salt and black pepper, to taste. Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, at least 2 hours and up to overnight.  When ready to serve, fill each glass with ice. Add 1 ounce of vodka to each glass, then fill the glass with the bloody mary mix. Stir well, and garnish each glass with your favorite veggie, pickle, celery, pickled green bean, or a pickled okra. I Could Dom is a sex comedy for people pleasers and was one of the best shorts I watched as part of HollyShorts.
