Copenhagen Zine Fest: A celebration of zines, small-press, art books and DIY!

In other news, we’re organizing a benefit punk gig here in Malmö. We want to raise funds for the incredible people in Valencia who’ve been working tirelessly to support each other after the recent floods. We believe that punk is solidarity, they cannot wait for the government to help them, so they are from day one helping each other and we want to do something for them as well, from here. The gig is happening on Saturday, December 7th, at Family Pub in Värnhem, Malmö. LINGCHI, FEARADOX and TERROR 83 will be playing! So mark your calendars! I recently caught up with Nevin from @genjingrecords, and together we created a special episode about the Chinese punk and hardcore scene. Nevin is a U.S. musician and music activist who lived in Beijing for 20 years, and he’s now based in Hong Kong. I first met him around 10 years ago while I was traveling through northern China, and then I had the experience to see and listen to some of the bands that he talks about during the episode.  Nevin has deep knowledge of the Chinese music scene, having worked with labels like Genjing Records (which he founded) and Maybe Mars, as well as playing in bands like Fan Zui Xiang Fa and Struggle Session, so he is the perfect person to guide us through this underground scene.  Thanks again, Nevin, for the talk and for all the music!!! I had the pleasure to interview this noise-rocking power-trio in their rehearse space in Malmö. During our conversation, we talked a little bit about everything; from The Hospitals and their song "I say Go", to bat researcher Merlin Tuttle. While I was editing the podcast I saw this review off their first album: "I have a soft spot for bands who sound like they hate their instruments".
