It was the tale of two halves for Texas football Saturday inside the Cotton Bowl. The Longhorns got off to a roaring start against the Sooners and enforced their will throughout the first half of the Red River Shootout. But the first-half dream turned into a second-half nightmare when Oklahoma erased an 18-point deficit coming out of halftime and handed the Longhorns their second loss of the season, 55-48. The Flagship Podcast returns with a recap of Saturday's thriller between Texas and Oklahoma. Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes break down the Longhorns' performance against the Sooners and weigh in on everything from the play by Casey Thompson, to the impressive career performance of wide receiver Xavier Worthy and the key moments that led to the second-half collapse in the Cotton Bowl. Chip and Taylor take a look at the defense's performance and explain why fans need to tap the breaks on calling for jobs considering the amount of plays (81) and time (35:23) the defense was on the field against the Sooners compared to that of the Texas offense, which only managed 61 plays on 24:37 time of possession and converted just one third down in the second half of the game against Oklahoma. The Flagship wraps up the show with an early look at what's to come for the Longhorns as they enter the second half of the 2021 slate beginning Saturday when Texas returns to Darrell K Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium to host Oklahoma State at 11 a.m. CT on FOX.
