On the heels of the largest student-led national protest aimed at highlighting the erasure of LGBTQ+ people in schools, Ali Wentworth revisits her conversation with Stephen Russell, Ph.D (Regents’ Professor of Child Development) to discuss ways families can support LGBTQ+ teens. Dr. Russell provides insight into the unique challenges faced by queer youth today and how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting many LGBTQ+ kids in quarantine. They take a closer look at gender identity and expression and Stephen offers ways parents can create more inclusive and affirming environments both in and out of the home.
