You Probably Haven't Heard of Them

We take a mental health week and talk about other projects from artists we have talked about on the show. It's an easy, breezy, covergirl kinda conversation.

Casey, Benjamin, and Max take a deep dig into one of the seminal albums of the early Metal world, Cynic's "Focus". They also talk about video game boss battle music!

This week we talk about a killer young hip hop artist A.Rob and his album "Abstract Blessings". What on the surface seems like a straight-ahead hip hop album turns out to have a lot to unpack!

In what must be the longest title in YPHHT's history and also a band that we each grew to love independently of each other, we get really deep into GSY!BE's unbelievable post-rock masterpiece, Lift Your Skinny Fists. We dig into feelings, and how the music is constructed to tell a story without any words at all. We might not sleep anymore on the beach, but we LOVE this record!

The boys put the kettle on, wrap themselves in a nice duvet, and engage in some self care with ANIMA!'s "Grow Your Garden", a gentle synth-pop album that has beats both dance-able and therapeutic.

We sit down with Ethan, the mastermind of the Get Together about his three surreal, masterfully-crafted rock EPs titled Lemon, Melon, and Orange!! After showering him with compliments, we ask the hard questions, the real questions, then when he's at his emotionally most vulnerable point, we play Band Names!!

Like fine connoisseurs of jazz fusion they painstakingly dissect the inner workings of the ultimate Jazz/Rock duo Marbin, reducing The Shred to its elemental components and reverse engineering the delicate formulae that hide beneath. Also Max is like "prowwwwwwowowoww weedly weedly weedly". In other news, Benjamin fixed the Neelytron, so let's see if Marbin is actually jazz!!

Max, Ben, and Casey reminisce about days of rocking olde, drunkenly pining after women, and talking about how sad but so so so good "Tennessee" by Lucero is.
