Major Hollywood studios and streaming giants, led by a coalition including Netflix, Disney, Paramount and Warner Bros., among others, have successfully petitioned the Australian Federal Court to block access to dozens of popular piracy hubs, including the world's biggest anime piracy site, HiAnime.

Per TorrentFreak, Australian internet service providers were ordered by the court to disable access to 52 piracy websites -- a list that includes HiAnime (formerly AniWatch and Zoro.to), 9anime, Aniwave, Anikoto, 123anime and Miruro. The ruling employs "dynamic blocking," allowing rights holders to instantly add new proxy domains to the blacklist without returning to court -- effectively neutralizing the "whack-a-mole" tactics these sites rely on to survive.

Under the orders, Australian ISPs are required to block the designated sites within strict timeframes. The court has also authorized the studios to aggressively target any new URLs or IP addresses these sites launch to circumvent the ban, potentially rendering them permanently inaccessible in the country. The inclusion of HiAnime in the list of piracy websites targeted suggests that the plaintiffs see the anime sector as a major player in the global piracy battle.
