The Christmas Hustle begins this week and i'm just going to get a movie in for myself early. Yeah, it may not be traditionally holly and jolly but it made me smile! Chris and Anita have never seen it and it's my first time watching it since I was a kid. It didn't really leave an impression on me back then but all these years later, maybe it can now. Let's end the Halloween Hustle for 2024 with some new hotness! I was scrolling through social media a few months back kept seeing people talk about this movie called "The Substance." I would hear the terms "body horror" and "instant classic" thrown around and then I heard comparisons to movies I love and so, it had to be watched. The Halloween Hustle continues on into November! Our Patron Reneco wanted us to check out Lamberto Bava's "Demons!" I've actually seen this before thanks to Joe Bob Briggs but this is a first time watch for Chris. There isn't much plot to discuss with this film so we discuss the practical effects, the crazy layout of the movie theater, the terrible dubbing and it gave me a reason to break the translator app back out and have some fun. A new Stephen King flick just dropped on Max and I figured it would be fun because neither Chris, nor I have ever seen any version of Salem's Lot or read the book, so this is all brand new to the both of us. Chris did do a little extra homework and watch most of the original adaptation before the show, so he was able to fill in some gaps when I had questions. It doesn't seem to have great review scores online but they're better than the new Joker movie at least, so maybe we made a decent call.
