In our 20th podcast episode, we invited Gregory Rorrer, U.S. guest lecturer in our Department of Energy & Environment, to stand in front of our microphone.
He has professional expertise that stretches all the way to the White House and is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the School of Chemical, Biological, and Environmental Engineering at Oregon State University. And now FH Burgenland will also have a place on his CV. For one semester, the researcher and respected lecturer Gregory Rorrer supported us in teaching and research in the Department of Energy & Environment at the Pinkafeld Campus.
From his favorite wine bar in Pinkafeld, called Vino en Paso, to the hand-painted turkey our students gave the U.S. lecturer for Thanksgiving: In this interview, Gregory
- provides insights into his experience as an international guest lecturer in the very depth of Burgenland,
- explains why Austrians should be willing to take more risks in life
- and discusses the differences between American and Austrian students.
His personal recommendation to all future Fulbright guest lecturers: „If you teach here at the Pinkafeld campus, live in Pinkafeld as well. Because you will have a very special experience compared to living in a big city like Vienna.“ And if you as a student of the FH Burgenland are interested in studying in the USA, please contact our International Office for more information.
